This is the cut I'm going to get on Friday:

My question is, after my hair dresser cuts it to this length, what do I have to do to make this messy look? Does this require gel? Thanks

I think you will need to put just a little bit of gel in to hold it in place but hairspray will also work which one do you prefer use that on. also just ask the guy who cuts your hair what he would recomend! good luck

to get the messy look, dont get any gel cause it will crisp your hair and wont give you the mobility or soft look in the hair, what you can use is alittle mousse or styling creme, just play with your hair, apply it once you get out of the shower and your hair is towel dryed, once you've manipulated the product in the hair, just walk out the door, you are all set... You dont need any sprays either because again like gel, it wont give you the messy or flexible look where you can just play with your hair and it still look good.

Your hair looks kinda coarse and opinionated to me. You should stay away from gels, mousses and sprays because you're going to have to use something strong to make it work--like Got2be Glued--and it WILL be crispy. If you want and unfussed-over look, go with a wax pommade, but you're gonna have to wait until your hair is almost dry or dry to put it in.
