Black girl, ma hair is breaking!?

I need help ! My hair used to be very long and thick, but then i used a perm because I was tired of all the hassle of my mom braiding my hair( she cant braid, it always comes out ugly and i told her but she took it as offense. She won't let me go to the hair dresser and get braids b/c she refuses to pay for it.) so there it is, now my hair is breaking and i really wanna keep it straight, so i press it with the hot comb. I think that is making it worse. Please help! Do i have to cut my hair off, I'm 15, and I wanna look normal. help?

You need to deep condition your hair when you have relaxers. That will definitely help prevent breakage. Also, get your hair trimmed every 6 weeks. Hot oil treatments once a month will help to.

Edit: Also, stay away from heat!!! Don't put anymore relaxer on your hair and no more blow drying, flat ironing, or using a hot comb until your hair is healthy again!

I would definitely seek a professional's guidance. But I think that most likely you will have to cut it off and start again. But not to worry, it will grow back.

The best option would be single- braids!

Its the best thing to do! And leave it in for roughly 4 months!

[My sister's hair broke off during winter and she left it in single- braids and it all grew back!]

EDIT: Or try 'Motions anti- breakage shampoo and conditioner'... its very good for black people's hair!

Depending on how damaged your hair is you might have to cut off the damaged layers and let it grow back. Sista please let it grow back naturally or you can put your hair in box braids using synthetic or human hair or corn row your hair. No more perming or using a hot comb. Your hair should be fine within a year.. Remember no more perming or using a hot comb for some time. Good luck

In a local store ( Walmart,Kmart,Price chopper ect.) There is a section in hair products labeled African American hair products or something like that , and in this section there will be all sorts of products and relaxers made just for your type of hair most of them are cheap and they truly do help. Good luck : )

ouch, chemically treated hair and hot irons.

Although we are taught that hot oil will only make hair shiny, some people swear by it. When the hair is breaking off, there's not a lot you can do, so trying anything is okay. I would definately try to preserve the hair that you have while the messy broken peices grow out. Make sure that you are using a good amount of product before that iron goes on your hair so that the heat is taking moisture from the product and not your hair causing it to be more brittle...good luck.

If its breaking off then you have to cut it, thats the only way it will grow back healthy, I had to do this myself. And DON'T USE A HOT COMB OR FLAT IRON, A lot of heat is the worst thing that you can put on relaxed hair, its okay to put heat on it sometimes but not all the time, it will only make the breakage worse. Keep your hair moisturized, hot oil treatments, oil sheen. And don't use products that have alcohol in them, alcohol dries the hair out and breaks it off, most hair gels contain alcohol.
