he is 6 and yes his hair is hard to cut but i want him to grow up getting a cut in a barber shop with men, not taken to a women hair dresser which is what he is now!!!

I totally understand your frustration as a parent that you are not 'allowed' to do something like a haircut without approval. But to be honest...I am sure you have bigger battles on your hands than this barber thing.

I bet your ex wouldn't even care as much if she didn't know that you feel so strongly about this. I think she is just trying to piss you off...and you are letting her win basically. My advise is just let it go...he is only 6 and when he is older...he will want to go with Dad to the barbershop and will tell mom that. Then he will actually appreciate those time with dad doing 'manly' things....he's too young to even remember now. ;)

Don't be petty. There is nothing "unmanly" about a 6 year old getting his hair cut by a woman. Of course it is more convenient for his mother to take him to the same place she goes. If you feel that strongly, take him to your barber when he's at your place.

Sorry that's kind of funny cause my son who is now 13 wont let a barber touch his hair! He wants it cut by a woman in a hair salon...He started out getting it cut from a barber so it really is no big deal.....

What's the problem? He IS an ex, and if you have custody, it's up to you to make the decisions for your son welfare! You are not married to this person anymore so why are you letting him control what you do? It's only a haircut!

Who has custody or do you share custody? And does your son's hair look presentable? If your wife has custody then it is out of your hands and you should let it go. If his hair looks presentable, what does it matter who cuts his hair?

The boy is also his son too so it's not the matter of putting your foot down but try and get him to understand you because no matter how you put your foot down if he says NO I think it's no. You need to work with understanding. Good luck.

thats so funny - my husband was the same, but he would not let any one cut his hair PERIOD!

i just trimmed his bangs so he could see, he got teased by all the family about looking like a girl.

finally my husband said why dont you get that boys hair cut at a hairdresser like everyone else AAAHHHHH!!!!

at least he gets his hair cut, and lots of men go to a hairdresser - you can also go to a hairdresser where they also have a barber, and sort of crossover without him noticing
