Plzzzzz help. its a hair situation!?

I am 13. I am african american. I want a change for 2008. For my hair I mean. My hair is medium length. I am african american but I have really nice hair. Its thin but it gets really straight with just a wash and set. But anyway i want to know what i should do with my hair for the new year. My mom said she does NOT want me to cut it or add weave and my hair dresser said that she dont want to put highlights because it could potentially ruin my hair. Idk what else to do with it. Maybe curl it or something. Ive already tried falt twists %26amp;%26amp; twists. any other suggestions? Can u please rate me from 1 to 10. Im not desperate I just want to know what u think. Know that i wear glasses too. But they arent dorky. I dont have a pic of me thats recent with glasses.

heres me:

Plzzzzz help. its a hair situation!?

Currently i have long hair and have been learning alot so...

i do not have a relaxer i stopped getting them 5 years ago ( and i've only have 3 relaxers in my life time so this is all natural) so i can show you how to take care of hair with or without a relaxer. With relaxers retaining moisture is key

1. The shampoo, unfortunately many black women are using shampoos with alcohol and petroleum jelly. step away from them. Use Aveda's shampoo.. specifically the name is Sap Moss...go to the website. I use it, i love it, it mouisterizes my hair and the products are natural. i have also heard that KeraCare is great for relaxered hair.

2. Okay, step two condition it and then it is time to comb it out, Do not use a brush on you hair when it is wet,,it will hate you for it then break off in revenge. Put your your sections use a big tooth comb, to untangle it

3. Do a hot oil treatment atleast once a month with extra virgin olive oil...repeat..EXTRA VIRGIN olive oil..not the regular stuff. unfortunately i have yet to take this step however my hair is doing great. You will also need protein and deep conditioning treatments alteast once a month.

4. Okay on the daily basis you need to pay close attention to your hair...i recommend conditioning your scalp(3-4 times a week) and your ends(everyday) so that they will not get dry and unhealthy Petroleum jellly and mineral oil are weapons of mass destruction ( in other words do not use grease) it does so much harm to your hair it cannot be all explained here. So you ask what do I use...well natural oils grapeseed oil ( use it for hair it deflects heat so it is good for flat iron users like us)

jojoba oil(i use this for my scalp), extra virgin olive oil, sesame oil, emu oil, coconut oil...all these natural oils and more love you..i promise.I also use Aveda's Brilliant ( the name of the brand) emollient for my ends.

5. Next..if you want your hair straight but still be natural it is time to get a freakin good flat iron.,i have the Chi(however chi flat irons do not work in France)..it does the job but I recommend getting the Sedu because of the good reviews. make sure to protect your hair..i have so thermal protector from Aveda. When flat ironing your hair do not let the iron stay on your hair for too long, just 1-2 quick swipes.I strongly advise against flat ironing hair with relaxers.

6. If you have a relaxer ( i have heard and seen that Affirm is the best relaxer) don't continue to relaxer all your hair everytime you go to the salon..just the new growth and try to stretch relaxers as long as possible. Rollersets under hooded dryers, with the lowest setting at possible temperature is recommended.

7. You do not need to trim your hair everytime you go to the salon maybe every 3 to 6 months.

8. Wrap your hair in a satin or silk scarf to prevent damage before you go to bed.

9. Eat healthy, drink lots of water,

10 take multivitamins, and fish oil pills you can get from GNC.

Follow these basics steps, can manuver them according to your needs ( like some don't do oil or or protein treatments, some oil everyday while others once a week, some people wash their hair once a week while others once every two weeks , but you have to the basics.)

if i were you i would use curl defining foam after you get out of the shower+when your hair dries. It will add a bit of a wave to it

a curl would be fun too!

good luck! +happy new year

You are a beautiful girl and you would look even BETTER with longer hair. So grow it out. If not that then you should put higlights in it (any color would look great)! Mayb you could also put it up with some cute clips! Hope this Helped ;)

I think it is already in a super cute style. To dress it up for New Years, just get the ends all flipped out with a flat iron and sweep your bangs to one side.

Shorten the lenhth of your bangs so it does not overwhelm your pretty eyes. It should just tip those gorgeous brows and brow bone I see hidden underneath. As suggested before, instead of a blunt even cut on the bangs, layer them a little chunky and side sweep the bang but keep the centre cut on the overall hair style.

Use a thinner hair band for your face type. One that is not too thin but not as thick. Consider about 1/8-1/4 inch wide bands and consider a matte metallic (not shiny) and material cloth covered for the young fresh look. Shiny wide plastic is too youthful for your age now.

I like to see your hair just past shoulder tip length but still keep the layer in the front like you have it now but begin the layering at just the bottom of your cheek bone coming down.

This will give you a bit of a sophisticated look but not older woman. It should give you a good "tween" look that is not girly but not older woman.

Otherwise, your overall hairstyle is great for you just the bangs are overwhelming and taking center stage of the hair style.

Good luck and much prayers
